The ALGEA-nator comes to the rescue...

Mommy cat taking a sun bath.

Hello, glad you could stop by.
It was a hot one today, wasn't it?

We traveled to Indy this morning to a Dr.'s appointment.
I swear that they have been working on sections of 31 FOREVER.
Here is a shot of the scenery that I took on the way through Westfield:

This man had to be cooking up there on the giant pile of dirt.

We came home and Al attacked the pool problem.  If you remember, I posted that our pool has turned to pea soup.  Al took a sample of the water into the pool shop and $65 later....we had dastardly chemicals to do dastardly deeds to the pool.
Pool status....poor, to say the least...
So, I will refer to Al as the Algea-nator.  Kind of like the Terminator, only with algea.  Kind of clever.  His name is Al...hey, it wouldn't work with say...Bob or Jim or Dave.
So now, we wait.  With 100+ degree days it would be nice to use the pool.
Just sayin.

I am having issues with Pinterest.  I need someone to hold me hand (Beth) and lead me through this intricate maze of stuff.  I have a head ache from trying to just set up my page.  I guess I don't process directions well.  Maybe that is why I'm an artist and not an aerospace engineer.

I finished the lady hippo this evening.  I like her.  Her nose holes kind of bother me, but that is how she looks in the reference photo.
She's done.  12X12 oil   $150.00
Tomorrow I am going to paint one more painting for the African Animals series and then call the series done.
Don't get me wrong, it was fun, but I am ready to move on.

It is almost bed time.  I am thankful for my family & my friends.
GOD is awesome, isn't he?
Goodnight.

Learning to eat corn OFF the cob.

 Happy July 4th!

Well, well....well
it has been a really nice last few days.

I keep thinking that it is Sunday evening.
Nope, it's just Wednesday.

Let's go back to Tuesday, shall we?

Tuesday morning I worked in the Artworks Gallery.
It was  a beautiful morning.

I want to show you a few things that are for sale in the Gallery.

Don Hipsher is now in our co-op.  His style adds a whole new perspective to the Gallery, don't you think?

Here is a view of the first floor.  If you haven't come into the Gallery, you really should come in and check it out.  We have between twenty and twenty-five co-op members.  The work is beautiful and the architecture that it lives in is nice, too.

Madeline Hoffman makes these beautiful bracelets.  She has so much more patience than I do.

These are some of Madeline's paintings that are on display at the Gallery.  She has quite an eye for florals.  She works mainly in watercolors.

This is Lynn Celarek's work.  Isn't it cool?  I will ask her some questions about how it is done and get back with you.  I want to say that this is a needle punching.

After I came home from the Gallery I decided to sit down and paint.  I painted until about 11:30 and then hit the sheets.

End of Tuesday

...and Wednesday begins
I was SURE that I would get up this morning and finish my hippo toot-sweet.
Nope.  Did not happen.
I had a chance to hang out with my kids and I took it.

Here's a question for you...
What color should your pool not be?
Green.
Green is the answer here, folks.
Leia asked me as I came up the stairs to the deck
"Gwandma, what is on the bottom of the pool?"
I told her it was nothing serious and that we could swim.
I put two large chlorine tablets in the skimmer and we got in.
It wasn't green then...
The green became more intense as the day went on.
So, yeah....here it is:
I expect a clawed hand to emerge from this.

We had burgers on the grill and corn on the cob.  IT WAS DELICIOUS.  I taught Leia how to eat corn OFF of the cob.  She just thought that she was "all that".  She ate three halves of corn.  I hope that doesn't hit her little system too hard.

Our little two toothed wonder wanted to be like his sister, so he grabbed the empty cob off of his mommy's plate.

So, here it is...almost 9 at night...and I haven't picked up a paint brush yet.
But, it has been a great day that I will remember....until a few days from now.  For those of us over 50, you understand that statement.
Someday's I'm lucky to remember what day it is...yeah...
is this Sunday?.....
who are you again?.....
Nighty night hippo....

Hollywood at the breakfast table

Here's how one should eat breakfast....
I have our wonderful grand babies, today.
Our three year old hit the door wanting to know where her breakfast was.
She & her brother rule the roost when they are here.
Asher eating his organic chocolate Os.

We have a lot to catch up on.  I have finished quite a few paintings in the last week, in preparation for a big change up at the gallery in Zionsville.

This one is in the works.
I doubt that I will be doing any painting until my "visitors" leave.  They tend to take up all my time, don't ya know.

You may have noticed that I took the weekend off from writing.  I was feelin" poorly when I got up on Saturday and decided to go back to bed.  I knew that I needed to feel better for the evening's event.  Heidi LeDoux Mullins was going to be in town & we decided to have an impromptu get together at Half Moon.  Goodness did we have fun!
I know, mouth open as usual....

The waitress took this picture.  She had problems working my camera.  We had to hold a pose for a long time.  Can you tell that I am giving her directions....mouth open...again....
In case you don't know these folks, the picture above is:
Kay, Becky, Heidi, Ronnie
Mark, me, Kathy
We don't look too bad for 51 (and 52), do we?

Company just got here....be back later!

_____________

Asher is down for his nap, now.  He is such a busy guy.  Grandma may need a nap after he leaves.  I am letting Leia wear her hair in a messy ponytail today.  That is a big deal.  I am the Grandma that is constantly brushing her hair and wrestling her into a braid or a tight pony tail.
Leia is watching PBS and eating alphabet  cookies.  Gosh, I wish I was 3 1/2.

After the kids left, Grandma needed some mental down time.  Grandpa took her for a drive and bought her a diet coke.  We drove through the park:
This tree must have been destroyed in the storm this last week.

The creek in Highland Park.
After we arrived back home we started in on our "work".

I finished this painting:
Done!  12X12 oil $150
I am gonna call it a day.  It has certainly been a full one.
Good night to all.
See you tomorrow.

Marching in the sun

Once upon a time,
I was in marching band.
It was a very, very long time ago.
34 years as a matter of fact.
I played the flugelhorn.
I didn't march well & I didn't play well, but we had fun.

Read & I at Maconaquah High School.  We had just finished unloading the trucks.

Move ahead to my kids in
WESTERN HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING PANTHER BAND.
(Indiana State Champions for 4 years in a row, by GOD)
I fell completely in love with the whole band process.
I loved the music, companionship & the traveling.
I fell in love with the band kids and they called me mom.
I discovered that I was competitive.
I was involved for 10 years as Production Manager.
I loved it.
I miss it.
My kids are now adults.
AND
it is over.

That husband of mine in his "tune it or die" t-shirt.
Remember, it is GOOD to be Al Temby.
The man, the myth the legend...
I know, I married a guy who lives marching band.
But, it is just not the same as traveling to the venue & competing.

SO
Today we went to watch the
Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps practice.
They were (are) out at Eastern in Greentown all day, today.
Here are some pics of our time over there:
This you man reminded me of Dalon Liggon.  Talk about graceful, he was it.

There he stands, waiting for the flag to finish spinning and come back to his hands.

This made me laugh.  She was staff.

Here are part of the horn group.  I thought the the colorful shorts was interesting.
Come to find out, the color denotes which instrument they play.
It was fun AND hot.  Really hot.
We decided that we would go back home and enjoy the A/C.

I took pictures of these Haflinger horses on the way home.  I want to paint them at some point in the future.  I got to meet their owner, Mr. Jameson.

Here is the Loin painting.  It is done.
Done. 12X12 oil $150
Started this one last night:

I need to work on the baby's head shape.

My plan is to change out all of the farm animal paintings that hang in the Zionsville Co-op (Art in Hand) with this new African animal set of paintings.  I will then move the farm animal paintings to the Kokomo Gallery (Artworks Gallery).  I have another two weeks to finish out the wild animals.

I had better get at it.
Work, work, work.
Paint, paint.....paint.

This is done.  12X12 oil.  $150

So, what will my next wild animal be?
Heck, I don't know.
I'm gonna go eat some dinner and think it over.
See ya...

THEY say...it's gonna be hot

So, I hear them saying on TV that it is gonna be hot today.
Over & OVER again, I hear them telling me how hot it is gonna be.
I get it.
Please stop telling me the obvious....

Yes, it's hot.
No, I won't start any fires.
Yes, I'll drink water.

Let's move on to something else.

Here is what I worked on yesterday evening:
Mother lioness.

Here it is with the cub added.  (Notice the guy in the bikini on the TV)
I plan on painting most of today, also.
I have another wild animal painting in my mind to add to the series.
I had better get to work...

See you in a while.

Painting until my fingers bleed....uh, yeah...

It's an easel day.
To me, that means that I am going to spend
the majority of the day at the easel.
Here is what I started yesterday evening:

It's a giraffe, but you can't really tell, yet.
This was in the late afternoon, yesterday.

Here we are at bedtime.  Kind of interesting, huh?

So, I need to work on the giraffe today and
set up a new painting to finish out my
African Series.
Maybe a lion cub?

Thanks to my good friend Madeline Hoffman, I am hooked on these 12 X 12 museum canvases.  I really like to use them.
She has also gifted me with this great container with a lid that keeps my paint from drying up.
Have I mentioned that she is also very gifted?  Go to Artworks Gallery to check out her work.

One of Madeline's pieces.  Watercolor.

Another good friend of mine (Beth, of Granny Bees) is on the
"Sherry, why don't you give painting lessons" bandwagon.
I am thinking about it.
She has some ideas about how I should go about setting it up.
If you have an interest in taking lessons, let me know.
I think it might be fun.

Here's........Beth!

Well, I had better get to "work".
Can we really call it work?
Air conditioning, TV and a tall glass of tea...
now, if I can only make an income at it...

See you later on today.
Have a good one, ok?
:)
